If you have the required skills to persist in a specific specialization, it would be unproblematic to handle, balance the academic and personal life in the medical profession.

The other best method to take a further decision is to do rotations, sub internship programs in both of your area of interest. Which of those can you see yourself in? What aspects of the various specialties do you find yourself attracted to?

Also think on life style patterns: Will the lifestyle of this kind of specialization match the kind of lifestyle you envision for yourself? Do you think you will be able to survive the rigors of a residency program in this field?
